REUSE OF GLASS FIBER WASTE IN THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Abstract

Due to the high B2O3 content of E-type fibres, as well as the beneficial qualities of basaltic fibres, make this waste an effective alternative use in frits and glazes without PbO (considered toxic). We proposed 7 frit recipes (made with basalt fibre waste and E-type fibre) and 1 glaze recipe with E-type and B-type frit (from basalt fibre waste) whose compositions were established based on an additive calculation program. The wetting capacity and the thermal expansion of these frits and glazes were studied. The mathematical modelling - based on the experimental data - of the complex dependencies between the content of E-glass fibres, respectively, of basaltic fibres and their wetting capacity and thermal expansion properties were performed.
